The Language of Trees: An Artistic Journey into the Forest

When we stroll through a forest, there’s a chance that we might miss an entire world of communication happening right beneath our feet. If you are quiet, you can hear the whispers of the trees, their stories of centuries past, and their dreams of the future.

I wrote this poem while immersed in nature and creating the paintings for The Earth Collection.

“The Language of Trees,” by Christina Contaldi

There is a hum
Amongst the trees,
If you are quiet enough
To hear it.

It’s the whisper
Of the leaves,
As they flurry
In the wind.

And the echos
Of the timber,
A steady metronome
That pillars the land.

It’s blossoms
Sing a sweet melody,
Of joy that swells
Even the loneliest of hearts.

And beneath the soil
Tumbled and turned,
The roots share
Earth’s greatest secrets —

Only known
to those,
who are quiet enough
To listen.

The Language of Trees
36 x 36”, mixed media on canvas.
Original painting, hand signed. Maple frame included.

This painting brings to light the ageless communion between nature's silent giants — the trees. Splashes of green intertwined with bold strokes of bark-brown, representing both leaves and branches stretching out, almost touching, resembling ancient hands locked in an intimate dialogue.
