A Poem and Painting: Cradled by Land and Sea

When I work on a painting collection, I am flooded with an influx of images, feelings, words and phrases. It is only by allowing all of these expressive channels to flow, that I can feel deeply fulfilled and complete in my expression.

Below is a poem that was inspired whilst working on The Atlantic Collection, and accompanies the painting Cradled by Land and Sea.

There’s a place
In my heart,
Cradled by
The life
That I’ve lived.

Known by
The earth,
Where I’ve walked,
And the sea
Where I’ve wept.

It’s the
Essence of
The beings,
Alongside
On my path.

The smiles,
The hellos;
The moments,
The goodbyes.

Intertwined
In this space,
Is both grasping
And letting go.

As I experience
Then it changes,
And I long,
Then move on.

And I return
To this space,
Cradled
By the land
And the sea.

As I remember
Who I am,
In this life
Within me.
